Windhaven Ranch LLC is located northwest of Sulphur Springs near Lake Sulphur springs and boasts 40 acres of prime equestrian opportunity.

The Zirretta family moved to Sulphur Springs from Chicago just three years ago. Owner and trainer, Carrie Zirretta, has been riding hunter/jumpers since she was 13. What started out as a small barn with an Off The Track Thoroughbred and a donkey named Jack, has turned into a full-fledge equestrian facility offering a six stall barn, covered wash rack, stocks, cross ties, large tack room, and TheraPlate. They offer boarding options to fit all budgets and boarders receive special amenities, such as discounts and use of the swimming pool.

Windhaven Ranch also offers access to a full size dressage arena, jumping arena and 70-foot round pen. A cross country course is also in development. Zirretta’s vision is to offer a facility where riders of all ages and abilities can come and learn without breaking the bank.

Windhaven hosts schooling shows, clinics, open arena days and summer camps, as well as a variety of other events throughout the year. Organizations can also rent the facility.

Two trainers, lessons and leasing opportunities are also available. Leasing is a great option for riders who want to learn to ride and would like a taste of what horse ownership is like.

In addition to these services, Windhaven Ranch is also an Arabian/Half-Arabian breeding facility. The second crop of their black Arabian stallion, Legacy Obsidian, were just foals this spring and have the same excellent conformation and disposition as their father. This young stallion is also showing great promise in the dressage ring and currently free jumps over 4 feet. At his first dressage show, he was reserve champion with a score of 68%. He has been bred to full Arabians, Half Arabians, Paints and Warmbloods.

WHR Pegasus is another stallion to be on the watch for. Pegasus is Windhaven’ts Friesian stallion who also shows great potential for the show ring. Windhaven will also be hosting the Friesian Sporthorse Association for their 2016 inspections on May 7th.

If you’re looking for a family friendly and fun showing atmosphere, where it’s all about learning and encouragement, Windhaven Ranch comes highly recommended. It is a great environment for all ages and abilities.
