The Northeast Texas Equine is a seasonal, digital magazine designed to promote the equine industry of North & East Texas. The magazine will feature the various farms and businesses available to our area in an effort to support the local equine economy.
The Northeast Texas Equine is published and distributed by Gray Horse Publishing & Marketing, a division of Words You Want. Gray Horse Publishing & Marketing is an equine marketing agency as well as book publisher offering eBooks and printed books on a variety of horse care topics.
Editor in Chief
Valerie Mellema is the owner of Gray Horse Publishing & Marketing and Words You Want, Inc. She has been in the equine industry for over 25 years and is a published author of multiple horse care books. She has over a decade of internet and content marketing experience and is HubSpot Inbound Marketing certified. She is also the owner of Mellema Thoroughbreds, a Thoroughbred breeding farm. She shows her OTTB, Mistic Gray, in hunter/jumpers.
Jennifer Riley is the Marketing Content Manager for AmeriStall Horse Barns and Southwest Metal Systems with locations in Mineola and Sanger, TX.
Elise Ulmer-Etzebeth was raised in a family of dedicated horsemen. She was riding horses before she could walk, started training with her father at the age of 16, and now has her own training facility in DeKalb, TX. Elise has won multiple national titles in reining, working cow, and cutting. She is also known around the globe as an international clinician.
Linda M. Stauffer
Linda Stauffer worked as a volunteer for the Humane Society of North Texas. She owns two adopted HSNT horses and remains committed to assisting HSNT in any way possible.
Angie Peters-Hughes is a sought after instructor of advanced riders looking to improve their horses and sharpen their overall performance. Being a fully Accredited Resistance Free® Instructor, Trainer & Riding Coach, a money winning rider, an AQHA Professional Horseman and a US Pony Club Alumni has qualified her for multiple Open Horse Show Judges’ Cards & Licenses. And as a founding partner of LearnCowboyDressage.com Angie conducts Cowboy Dressage™ clinic’s and horsemanship workshops focused on improving the horse and rider relationship.
